A snowy Saturday led me out to Lake Iwaonai to finish shooting a roll of Ilford HP5. The road out to the lake only just reopened after the road was washed out by typhoons early last summer. // Lake Iwaonai is man-made, owing its volume to the sizeable Iwaonai Dam which straddles the valley. It has minor hydro-electric capabilities, but primarily looms as a reminder of Japan’s ongoing love-affair with concrete in the outdoors and the “Build it. It doesn’t matter if they come.” attitude of the late-20th Century’s bubble economy.
